  George Barbier (1882 - 1932)
  George Barbier studied at the Ecole des Beaux under Jean-Paul Laurens. He began his art career as a costume and set designer of the Ballet Russes. Along with Erte and Icart, Barbier achieved status as one of the finest artists of the Art Deco period. Barbier's exuberant use of color and technique captured this period.

Barbier achieved mastery of the pochoir technique and used it extensively in his work. While known as a fashion and design illustrator he also developed an in Greek classic art through his love of antiquities. He employed his unique interpretation with a art deco style successfully in several albums which are reminiscent of Etruscan and Attica vase painting.

Barbier became involved in painting, poster art, textile and wall paper design and book illustrations. He was a frequent contributor to Gazette du Bon Ton, Journal des Dames and Modes et Maineres. His album masterpieces include Le Bonheur du Jour, Les Chanson de Bilitis, Personages de Comedie, Poems en Prose, and Vies Imaginaires. Other outstanding works include Falbalas et Fanfreluches, Les Fetes Galant, and Les Cantiques de Cantiques.

Until his death Barbier regularly exhibited his work at the Salon des Artistes Decorateurs and in 1920 also participated in Museum of Decorative Arts. During his life he received numerous art awards. His work is highly sought after in Europe and now the United States.

                                       
  Robert Bonfils (1886 to 1972)
  Robert Bonfils began his art career at the start of the art deco period. He combined 19th century romanticism with 20th century abstract. He became a regular contributor to Gazette du Bon Ton and also worked for the other Parisian fashion publications. He won an award for a promotional poster at the 1925 Paris Exposition.

Other works include La Maniere Francaise and Divertissements des Princesses qui s'ennuieent.

                                       
  Bernard de Monvel (1881 to 1949)
  Bernard de Monvel was a student of Luc-Olivier and Jean Dampi, He was a painter, illustrator, engraver adn also a fashion designer. He contributed to important publications including Gazette du Bon Ton, Journal des Dames and Modes et Maineres.
                                       
  Serge Gladky (1880 to 1930?)
  Serge Gladky was a major figure in the cubism and abstract segment of the art deco world. He was an artist, architect, and designer. He traveled throughout Europe and Asia. However, little is known of his personal life. Gladky is mostly remembered as a proponent of the cubism art style. In his most famous work, Nouvelles Compositions Decoratives Gladky uses motifs of animals, insects, fish and birds to create a marvelous series of abstract prints.
                                       
  Paul Iribe (1883 to 1935)
  Paul Iribe studies at the College Rollin and the Ecole Condorcet. He began has art career as a cartoonist  and illustrator. Iribe obtained international fame when he illustrated the deluxe fashion album that Paul Poiret had created entitled Les Robes de Paul Poiret. Upon his success he obtained commissions from the major fashion publications and he also set up a studio designing furniture, fabric and wallpaper. He came to America in 1914 and worked for Cecil B. de Mille on costume and set design. After returning to France he continued his fashion career and also designed jewelry for Coco Chanel.
                                       
  George Lepape (1887 to 1971)
  George Lepape studied at the Ateliers Humbert and Cormon and Ecole National des Beaux Arts. He began his art career as a  graphic designer and achieved status in both poster art and advertising. His major success was illustrating the fashion album of Les Chases de Paul Poiret after the success of Les Robes de Paul Poiret, Both albums are sought by collectors for their excellent pochoir plates.

His recognition bought him assignments from Gazette du Bon Ton, Journal des Dames and Modes et Manieres. In later years, he also contributed to Vogue, Harper's Bazaar L'Illustration, and Femina. Lepape also produced designs for costumes and sets for the Ballets Russes. His water colors are also collected.

                                       
  Charles Martin (1884 to 1934)
  Charles Martin studied at the Montpelier Ecole des Beaux Arts, Academie Julian and Ecole des Beaux Arts. He is recognized as a fashion illustrator, costume designer, and theater set designer. Martin also became prominent as a graphic artist and poster designer. Martin forte was his cubist style and his illustrations were regular features of the major fashion publications. He also produced illustrations for albums and deluxe books including Mascarades et Amusettes and Sports et Diverrtissement.
                                       
  A.E. Marty (1882 to 1974)
  Andre Edouard Marty studied at the Ecole des Beaux. In addition to being an artist, he was also a student of philosophy. He also developed his skills as an enameler and created many beautiful items of jewelry. Marty was a frequent contributor to the three major fashion periodicals. he also designed sets and costumes for the theater, as well as posters and illustrations for books.
                                       
  F.L. Schmied (1873 to 1941)
  Francis-Louis Schmied was born in Switzerland in 1873. He studied at the Geneva School of Industrial Arts and moved to Paris in the early 1900'. He later became the foremost and finest master of color wood engraving. His adaptation of Paul Jouve's illustrations for Kipling's Jungle Books was his first initial success. Schmied also collaborated with George Barbier and produced L'Odysee, Chanson de Bilitis, Personnages de Comedie, and Vies Imaginaires.

His devotion to detail and in workmanship later led to his financial ruin in the 1930's. His work is highly prized today and often very rare.
